The person gets tingling in the hand, which is most pronounced during sleep. The hand goes to sleep, the fingers may be numb. The person may wake up shaking hands and has disturbed sleep. If the symptoms are present for years, the thumb may not function appropriately and the muscles may waste.
The diagnosis is based on examination in the hand surgery clinic. A few tests may be asked for.
Often, the condition of carpal tunnel syndrome is mistaken for Cervical spondylosis.
